Writer's Block?

Coming up for intelligent, content-rich, unique posts is a lot more challenging than I imagined it would be when I made the leap into blogging.  Sometimes it is a real stretch to come up with a post idea.  Fleshing out those forced ideas into a well-written post can be incredibly painful.
Recently, I made a discovery.  When suffering from writer's block I usually switch in to reader mode- flipping through other people's blogs, posting dozens of well-thought-out comments.  This is a great distraction, but typically doesn't help the issue.

So, instead, here is what you do.  Get off the computer.  Go wash your face, or shine your sink.  Paint your nails or take a shower.  The ideas may just start flowing.  Its worked for me!

PS- Be prepared in case it works extra well and you have multiple ideas.  While you run back to the computer and begin a post on the first idea, the others will fly away.

I am totally right there that last few days. I can't seem to pull a post together for my Redesigning Home blog. Even though I have many things to share, I just can't seem to pull it together. In fact I am on blog Frog for the first time in a week hoping to gain some inspiration before getting ready for work. So, that I can put a post together this evening.

Hey there, Candace! Congrats on the big moving in February! Yaaay! Oh and about a writer's block.. everybody has one at least once in a while, and it gets solved simply by going after the "restart concept": detach - reattach :) Works like a charm every time. ha ha.. I am now following you thanks to Friendly Friday, and it would be so nice if you could share the love back on my blog;)
Also today we have the coolest blog hop there is... no rules just fun and would love you to join in with us at Boost My Blog Friday :) See you there! Happy Friday!

Nice post! I think getting away from blogland is the right thing to do most of the time if you have bloggers block.
Other ideas would be:
- instead of writing a well thought through comment - make your own post out of that and leave a comment with something like "inspired me to my recent blog post" or something.
- use writing prompts!
Actually, my recent post on my blog is kind of about a similar topic. I plan to have a blogging plan to at least have some sort of regular content - no matter how busy I might be.

I think a plan could be really helpful- like a schedule of topics or themes for each day of the week. Then you aren't starting out from zero when you sit down to write a post.

I was starting to get a little nervous about my upcoming newspaper, which I haven't even started writing yet. A good jump on the trampoline cleared up my brain!

So true, Candace. Sometimes unplugging and just living life allows the inspiration to seep in!

Hi Candace,
I know what you mean about the distraction of flipping through other blogs. Been there, done that. Some blogs seem inspired, others, well... sounds like you've been there too.
Thanks for the tips on how to counter writer's block. I'll keep these thoughts in mind.
Meet your newest follower. Hope you'll swing by and visit me too. Company is always welcome at my place:)

I hear you!! Some days it's chicken and some days it's feathers... I don't want to fill up space on my blog with something that doesn't enrich, support or make someone laugh. I keep a notebook with me or use my phone to add ideas when they come. It helps a lot when the well seems to have gone dry. Thank you for the tips! <3

Great post, I read other's blogs and will post about whatever cool thing I've tried or thoughts about it and then of course, link back to them. Reading other blogs always helps me get the juices flowing for me. I also keep a notebook with post ideas in it so that I can go back to. It helps me plan out my posts for the up coming week.

Your newest follower, feel free to stop by and visit my place and if you like what you see, follow back. Thanks!
